Si bien estas películas comenzaron como un «thriller» sobre la libertad de hacer lo que la gente desea como matar, robar, torturar o cometer cualquier otro crimen una vez al año, sin ninguna consecuencia, logrando con esto poder convivir en paz y tranquilidad el resto del año.
Aunque la saga de «La Purga» ha dado el salto a la pantalla chica, no abandona a la grande, por lo que el próximo año lanzará la 5a película. James DeMonaco, el director de esta franquicia, ha dejado claro que desea darle un buen final a la historia, razón por la cuál con esta hará el cierre.
Según lo anunciado hoy por Universal Pictures y Blumhouse, este tendrá lugar en el 10 de julio del 2020 a la par que la secuela de «Cazafantasmas».
