Escrita y Dirigida por Emerald Fennell
De ciertas formas, esta película me recordó a la tan mencionada y múltiple ganadora de 2020, “Parasite”.
No estoy comparando una con la otra. El guion, la trama y las características principales de la historia son totalmente distintas, sin embargo existe una similitud, la cual es una característica que presentó “Parasite” y que conquisto a gente de todo el mundo. Tal vez la referencia más sobresaliente de la película Coreana del Director Bong Joon Ho, o al menos la que todo el mundo repetía era el cambio del género dramático. La que por momentos parecía una narrativa de drama, se hacía thriller y comedia con una técnica prometedora.
Esto mismo me sucede al ver “Promising Young Woman” con la sensible actuación de Carey Mulligan. Una narrativa que como espectador me mantuvo entre el suspenso, el melodrama, la comedia y a mi gusto, me dio más risa y me generó más tensión que “Parasite”.
El marco de la historia se desarrolla en Ohio, en donde Cassie, una talentosa estudiante de medicina, ve frustrados sus sueños y su camino por un crimen cometido en contra de su mejor amiga. El suceso lleva la vida de Cassie por un rumbo nuevo de peligro y justicia.
La directora Emerald Fennell, quien a su vez es escritora, actriz y productora, logra una sólida narrativa que sumerge al espectador en una serie de preguntas que sutil e inteligentemente se van destapando a lo largo de la trama. Incluso, existen algunas preguntas que quedan abiertas, sin afectar el desenlace emocional del espectador.
Aplaudo el trabajo de Emerald como guionista y directora de esta fuerte, conmovedora, tan cierta y tan devastadora historia, que por desgracia, le sucede a millones de mujeres en el mundo.
Sigue disfrutando el mundo del cine, INCORTO.
